Fatrunner Football Pool Rules and Guidelines

Howdy folks! A few small changes this year to try to make the pool work a little cleaner and easier. First, the entry fee has increased a touch to $140 ($125 goes into the pool, $15 covers the Commissioner’s fees on website maintenance, reporting results and standings back to you each week) which covers the entire 17 regular week season, bowl game contest and end of year cumulative categories. The slight increase in fees basically went toward the creation of the website to maintain our picks at http://football.fatrunner.com/. The only casualty of this new, automated system is the Monday Night contest. I could not find a way to regulate this, so I elected to drop it. Sorry Brent, I know this was your chief source of winnings. As usual, cumulative scores will include scores from the regular weeks, bowl games, pro playoffs and the super bowl. All monies are paid back over almost five months of a football pool that is designed for fun. Year 2003 will be adjusted to final number of players and the pay-outs will be approximately as follows:

Category I Category II
(Weekly - Lowest points) (End of season lowest cume)
Rank Win Rank Win
1st $75 1st $120
2nd 60 2nd 90
3rd 45 3rd 75
4th 30 4th 45
5th 20 5th 30
6th 10 6th 20
   7th 15
   8th 10
Weekly Total $240
Annual Total $3,840 Annual Total $405

Category III Category IV
(Bowl Games - Lowest points) (Overall number of games picked correctly)
Rank Win Rank Win
1st $125 1st $100
2nd 110 2nd 75
3rd 90 3rd 50
4th 75 4th 25
5th 60
6th 50
7th 40
8th 30
9th 20
10th 10
Total $610 Total $250

These payouts are based on an estimated number of entrants and will be adjusted when the final registrations are complete. If we end up with extra participants, we will beef up the cumulative categories and possibly even make weekly picks richer toward the end of the season. It is my intention to make sure ALL the money in the pool is paid back out (with the exception of the commisioner’s fees which go toward website maintenance and results reporting).

Category I - Detail

Every week (beginning Sept 6-7 through Dec ) there are 10 college and 10 pro contests pre-selected by the governing board. Note: At the latter part of the season some weeks are pro only. The picks are made and the schedule is found at http://football.fatrunner.com.

Every week, pick 15 winners out of the 20 contests pre-selected by the board. List and number your picks in descending order of confidence, starting with 15. You will probably eliminate the five games which you consider to be toss-ups. IMPORTANT! THE WEEKENDS THAT ARE PRO ONLY, PICK ALL CONTESTS IN DESCENDING ORDER OF CONFIDENCE. Send your picks via e-mail (to troy.holly@verizon.net) or snail mail to Troy Severson, 399 NE 15th CT, Hillsboro, OR 97124.

Category II - Detail

At the end of the full season, including play-offs and super bowl, the eight players with the lowest cumulative scores will divide $405.

Category III - Detail

The college bowl games will run similar to a standard week of play with the exception that payouts will extend through 10th place. The commission will do our best to ensure that every pool member has picks from the entire pool to track throughout the bowl season.

Category IV - Detail

The four players who pick the most games correctly in all categories will divide $250 at the end of the pool.

Summary: Your weekly entry will contain: numbered list of picks, Monday night pick and Monday night combined score prediction.

NOTE: COMMISSIONER’S RULINGS FROM PAST 10 YEARS

A. Football schedules are subject to change, especially around the holidays to accommodate TV. If a contest moves from the weekend on the attached master schedule, do not reschedule that contest. Make your picks from the remaining available games. If you pick a game that does not play on the weekend, you lose the corresponding points.
B. Some colleges and pro teams have the same name (E.G. Tennessee, Miami). Be sure to specify college or pro when there might be confusion. If not spelled out and the selection cannot be deduced, it will count against you. The schedule uses the school name for colleges and mascot names for the pros to provide clear differentiation.
C. Commissioner will rule on all questions or disputes as they arise during the pool season. His rule is final!! It’s his pool.
